Jessica Moya
1987 ~ 2003
(As I was just a Fireman / First Responder,
I was not able to get a Death Certificate)
She was but a child, just sixteen years old,
with her sparkling eyes, and trusting heart.
She was like a fairy princess
her purity deserving of a unicorn.
But then . . .
She was gone.
The Unicorn stared out over the horizon.
While one part of him was looking for her,
another part knows that she was now gone . . .
. . . forever.
My Words to Jessica
Oh Jessica,
I knew that you were afraid when you looked up at me
with tears in your eyes.
Do you remember I looked down as I held your head
and said "Don't worry, you're going to be alright"?
I saw and felt you relax as you tried, tried so very hard to smile.
I held you in my arms thinking, "My God, she's only a small child".
A tear escaped me as you closed your eyes one last time.
It just didn't make sense.
But also was there not beauty in that special moment
as you returned to your beginning, to, your, innocence.
Jessica is missed so very much.
If by no one else then by me,
the one holding her when she closed her eyes the last time.
Those sparkles never again to be shared with those who knew her.
If you would care to leave a thought for Jessica,
or light a candle in her memory,
please email me.
If you have a peom that you would like to share,
I can also make a special place for that.
